10 Essential Beauty Secrets you need to know!

Ok, so everyone has their own idea of what a decent beauty regimen is and should be. We have all heard the saying beauty is more than skin
deep right? And, of course our mom's passed down many old beauty secrets that I'm sure we will pass down to our children and their children for generations to come. However, some beauty basics are simply learned or taught through our own research. I mean let's face it your mom may tell you to stay away from chocolate because it will cause you to get pimples, but scientists will tell you it's not the chocolate but the actual consumption of foods that contain a lot of refined sugar that can cause a chemical imbalance in your body. So basically you are what you eat, in so many words, but did you know that they types of products you use on your skin (which is your largest organ, by the way) can also affect how you appear and they type of balance you will have in your skin? Alright, alright enough of the scientific mumbo jumbo let's get down to the beauty basics list (my personal list of favorites).

1. Always drink lots of water! Water will hydrate your body, cleanse your body of toxins, and improve your body's overall functionality. Water is essential to your health and maintaining a healthy body. Your main goal will be to drink a minimum of 8 8oz glasses of water each day. In addition to hydrating your body water will also help keep your skin blemish free! How F.A.B. is that! We all love clear and healthy skin!

2. Eat your fruits and veggies, aside from all of the nutrients and essential fiber packed in fruits and veggies, and the energy you will gain, fruits and veggies also keep your system clear of those nasty toxins we all want to get rid of and keep out of our body for good! Better yet you may also see an improvement in your weight too!

3. Stay away from alcoholic, carbonated, and artificially sweetened beverages. The ingredients alone in these beverages are known to cause damage to you body and increase toxin levels if you drink them excessively. Moderation is key when enjoying any of those types of beverages, but make sure you drink water to flush out the toxins these beverages add to your body.

4. Make sure you take care of your skin. Choose beauty products that will nourish your skin and help keep your skin clear of acne. The best types of products to use on your face if you have acne or problems with blemishes are products that contain salicylic acid. This is the active ingredient that you should look for in products that you are seeking to use to get rid of acne, blemishes, or to even your skin tone.

5. Cleanse your skin day and night. It's important to cleanse your twice skin daily. Once in the morning to refresh your skin and get rid of any "invisible bugs" that my have accumulated on your face from your blankets and pillows over night. ewwwww. Anyway, also cleanse your skin in the evening as well to get rid of all the toxins, make-up, sweat, build-up, that you encountered while you were out and about.

6. Exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating your skin serves many beneficial purposes. During the exfoliation process you are literally getting rid of the old layer of skin that is sitting on top of new skin. As we get older our skin tends to "hold on" to old layers of skin and this causes our skin to look older and more wrinkled. Hence the reason using an exfoliate product will get rid of the old layers of skin and expose fresh new skin. In addition, you are also promoting better circulation of blood in your body. I use buff puffs in the gentle grade for my face.

7. Always use a moisturizer that contains sunscreen. I prefer the oil free moisturizers that way my skin doesn't feel sticky after I use it. There is nothing worse than using a moisturizer that makes my face feel sticky, not only do I feel like my face is globbed up with a bunch of gunk but I feel gross like I need to wash my face. Who wants to feel yucky and gross, not me. So stick to the oil free moisturizers with at least a  30 SPF protection.

8. Get a make-up product that is non-comedogenic. What that means is these products won't cause blackheads or break outs. The best foundation and powder to use on your face are mineral based foundations and powders, not only are they better for your skin but they can help improve the overall condition of your skin over time.

9. Always remove your make-up properly. Personally I use a wash cloth dampened with warm water to wipe make-up off, however if you prefer to use a make-up remover product those are perfectly fine as well. Just don't forget to also wash your face with your cleanser, using a make-up remover alone will not properly cleanse your face.

10. Get the proper amount of rest. Getting enough sleep allows your body to rejuvenate for the next day. Lack of sleep can make you feel sluggish, tired, non-active, cause poor attitudes, etc. But when you get the right amount of rest, no more than 8 hours, any more or less can cause fatigue, you will feel great. Some say you can function off of 6 hours of rest per night, I don't know about you, but I feel better when I get 8 hours of sleep in the day.

Those are my personal tips! Enjoy and stay F.A.B. ~smooches~
